I have a strong desire to convey the struggle people in our society go through on a daily basis. We hold materialistic things to an unnecessarily high standard. Our society has an image of what we should buy and how we should live our lives. The media constantly spews nonsense that we should look like this, or buy that with the implication it will make us prettier, or happier. Leading us to believe you can buy your own happiness. But can you really buy your own happiness?

     Living in South Florida we are surrounded by fancy cars, designer clothes and a lifestyle that so many people strive for. But what so many people might not know is that these people are not always happy on the inside. I have seen and dealt with the constant battle that many people go through to feel as if they fit into these societal standards. A struggle you probably won’t see in the life they appear to live. I want to portray those who are trying to find peace within, those who use a lavish lifestyle to create their own happiness, and those trapped in a luxurious purgatory.
